When God loses religion in mankind and sends his legion of angels to own human bodies and produce on the apocalypse, one angel (Paul Bettany) defies the order by showing at a distant rural diner. As the group of people there battle hoards of scary, zombie-like creatures and a backup angel (Kevin Durand), they uncover that their pregnant waitress would possibly maintain the key to saving humanity.
Screen Gems opted to not prescreen Legion for critics, and with good cause: This religiously-themed actioner is a disaster. First-time director Scott Stewart, a veteran visual designer who has worked on every little thing from Harry Potter to Pirates of the Caribbean to Iron Man, exhibits off some spectacular expertise in creating big-budget action scenes, but his writing and path are lacking. This movie has all the trimmings of a bad movie – bad CGI, pedestrian fight choreography, clumsy dialogue and awkward digital camera angles. The solid, led by Bettany and Tyrese Gibson, do what they'll with the fabric, but the script is simply too thin to support them.

Mickey Rourke is dragged into the image despite having solely about three strains, while Bai Ling lets her garish make-up do most of her acting for her. The movie also contains some very strange interludes that do not quite make sense and are extra boring than inadvertently hilarious. It can be a lot easier to forgive if the clumsiness of these scenes wasn't so obvious, however they're nonetheless disappointing.
